How to Add a Statement Descriptor?
We recommend that you change the "statement descriptor" in Stripe to something your customers will recognize with your restaurant brand/location name to avoid unnecessary chargebacks.
This can be done by editing the statement descriptor in your Stripe account settings at
Business Settings → Business → Public Information → Statement descriptor
Note: Statement descriptors are limited to 22 characters, cannot use the special characters <, >, ', or ", and must not consist solely of numbers.
What if I am prompted for a verification code but don't have one?
If you are getting a request for a verification code it means that a Stripe account has already been set up with that email address.
-
Stripe sends a verification code to the cell phone number on file with Stripe for that account.
-
The verification code (usually a 6-digit one) is sent via text--the text should say it is from Stripe but it may not be obvious that it is from Stripe until you click into it.
-
Refer to this Stripe article - Stripe Support: Trouble signing in - for more information on how to recover your account if the phone number has changes associated with the verification process
