Within the ItsaCheckmate Portal, the EDIT MENU function allows you to make edits to the existing menu of a live location, where you can make all edits in one request and submit them for approval.
This guide will help you maneuver the EDIT MENU mode and successfully make changes to your menu.

Note: Before you begin editing your menu in the ItsaCheckmate Portal, make sure that all new categories/items/modifier groups/modifiers that you wish to add have been added to your POS first.
Edit Mode:
To enter the EDIT mode, go to Menu Management and click on the ‘Edit Menu’ button on the left side of the page.
Now that you are in EDIT mode, you can start making changes to your menu as per your requirements!

Adding a new category:
To add a new category to your menu, click on the +Category button and fill in the Add Category modal to include the following information:

Category name
-
Menu - select the menu within which this category would reside

Items - if you want to select existing items in the menu and add them to the category, you can select those items from this dropdown

Additional notes - if there are any additional notes that you would want to add for the ItsaCheckmate team to see, you should enter them here
Click on the ‘Add’ button.
For example - Add a new category to the menu named ‘Christmas specials’.
The new category that you just added would be visible at the bottom of the menu.

Adding an existing item to a new category:
You can add an existing item to a new category in 2 ways:

Adding the items while creating the new category in the ‘Add Category Request’ modal in the ‘Items’ field (as shown above)

Using the Edit Item modal (as shown below)
Adding an existing item to a new category - using the Edit Item modal:
Click on the Edit icon of the existing item in the menu that you want to add to the new category that you just created.
Example - Adding an existing item ‘Coca Cola’ in the menu to the new category ‘Christmas specials’
In the Edit Menu Item Request modal, add the new category to the ‘Parents’/Category field and click on SAVE.
The existing item is successfully added to the new category.
Adding a new item:
To add a new item to a new / existing category, click on the +Item button present next to the category and enter the following details in the new Add Item modal:

Item name
-
Description
-
Category - newly created / existing categories are both listed in this dropdown
-
Modifier group - newly created / existing modifier groups are both listed in this dropdown
Click on ADD.
Your newly created item is successfully added to the menu!
Adding an existing modifier group to a new item:
You can add an existing modifier group to a new item in 3 ways:

Adding the modifier group(s) while creating the new item in the ‘Add Item Request’ modal in the ‘Modifier Group(s)’ field (as shown above)

Editing the new item using the Edit Item modal (as shown below)

Using the Edit Modifier Group modal (as shown below)
Adding an existing modifier group to a new item - using the Edit Item modal:
Click on the edit icon on the newly added item.
In the Edit Menu Item Request modal, go to the Modifier Group(s) dropdown where you will be able to see all the modifier groups that exist within the menu and select the ones you want to keep with the item.
Click on SAVE.
The selected modifier groups will successfully be added to your newly created item!
Adding an existing modifier group to a new item - using the Edit Modifier Group modal:
If you see an existing modifier group in a menu item that you want to add to a newly created item, you should click on the edit icon next to the modifier group.
In the Edit Modifier Group Modal, click on the items dropdown - where you will be able to see the newly created items as well and select the item you want to add this modifier group to. Click on SAVE.
You will successfully see the modifier group added to the newly created menu item!
Adding a new modifier group:
To add a new modifier group to a newly created / existing item, click on the +Modifier Group button present in the Item Details modal and enter the following details in the new Add Modifier Group modal:

Modifier group name
-
Item(s) - select any newly created / existing item in the menu that you would want to add this new modifier group to
-
Min / Max - minimum and maximum number of modifiers that should be selected for this modifier group by the end customer
-
Modifier(s) - select any newly created / existing modifiers in the menu that you would want to get added to this modifier group
Click on ADD.
The new modifier group that you just created is successfully added to the menu items selected. The modifier group also contains the existing modifiers that were added.
Adding an existing modifier to a new modifier group:
You can add an existing modifier to a new modifier group in 2 ways:

While creating the new modifier group in the ‘Add Modifier Group Request’ modal in the ‘Modifier(s)’ field (as shown above)

Using the Edit Modifier Group modal (as shown below)
Adding an existing modifier to a new modifier group - using the Edit Modifier Group modal:
Click on the edit icon on the newly created modifier group.
Add the modifiers in the modifier dropdown in the Edit Menu Modifier Group modal. This dropdown will show all newly created and existing modifiers in the menu.
Click on SAVE.
The modifiers are successfully added to the new modifier group!
Adding a new modifier:
To add a new modifier to a newly created / existing modifier group, click on the +Modifier button present in the Item Details modal inside the modifier group and enter the following details in the new Add Modifier modal:

Modifier name
-
Modifier group - select the newly created / existing modifier group(s) that you want this modifier to get added to from the menu
Click on ADD.
The new modifier gets successfully added to the modifier group!
Adding a new modifier to a modifier group using the Edit Modifier Group modal:
Click on the edit icon next to the modifier group that you want to add the newly created modifier to.
In the Edit Menu Modifier Group modal, you will be able to see the newly created modifier in the Modifier(s) dropdown. Select that and click on SAVE.
The newly added modifier will successfully be added to the modifier group!
Submit a request for review:
Once you are done making changes to your menu in the EDIT mode, click on the SUBMIT FOR REVIEW button on the left side of the page.
Click on Submit.
Your edit menu request is successfully submitted and is under review by the ItsaCheckmate team.
NOTE: You cannot edit the menu again until your pending request has been processed and approved or you withdraw your request.

View the Request Queue:
To view the requests for menu edits that have been sent to the ItsaCheckmate team for review, click on the Request Queues V2 button on the left.
This request queue page contains requests for menu edits that are in the following stages:

Pending - the requests that are under review
-
Merged - the requests that were approved and merged with the existing menu
-
Archived - the requests that were rejected by the ItsaCheckmate team
-
Withdrawn - the requests that were withdrawn by the user / ItsaCheckmate team
Clicking on each request under the specific tabs will give you details about that particular request.
Clicking on the hyperlinks of each menu element request will let you know the details of the element that was added in Edit Mode.
Withdrawing a request:
To withdraw a request that you just made, click on the Withdraw button under the Request Queue Pending page and click on Okay.
Your request will be withdrawn and all the changes that were made to the menu will get deleted.
Exit Edit Mode:
While you are in the process of making edits to your menu, you can also choose to put a pause on the whole process by exiting the Edit Mode.
NOTE - Exit Edit Mode will NOT delete any changes made during this session. The changes will remain saved and when you reopen the Edit Mode, the edits will appear again and you can resume making edits to the menu.
